If you are planning to come to Italy to pay homage to the greatest generation the best way to experience the battlefields is to take a guided tour.

History will come alive as you view our multimedia presentations while we are in route to the various sites. I am uniquely qualified to tailor your historic tour based on your special interest including the experiences of your father, grandfather, uncle, or other loved one who was involved in the italian campaign of World War II. I will do my best to show you the route taken and the obstacle encountered by your family member. You will come away with a great appreciation for the hardships they endured and the service they provided in liberating Italy.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

I am always available by e-mail  for questions about tours and to give you assistance, but there are some topics and subjects that come up very frequently.

Hopefully, this page will provide answers to these.

Where do your tours commence?

The tour starts from Nettuno train station. If you are based in Rome, the train ride is very panoramic,  there are frequent trains from Roma Termini train station to Nettuno, approx. every hour. Please, visit the website of Treni Italia  for train schedules. My suggestion is to catch the 8:21 am train  from Roma Termini that arrives at Nettuno train station at 9:34 am.

It is a good idea to  buy the train ticket on line, just be aware that for regional trains (i.e the train from Rome to nettuno) is possible to buy the ticket only one week week before the journey. Once you have bought it, print it and it is already validated. If you don't have a printer available, you can download it on your smart phone or ipad.  The train from Rome to Nettuno is a regional trains that stops serveral times.  For this type of trains you will not have a reserved seat, you can sit anywhere. The train starts at Roma Termini and ends in Nettuno (final destination of your journey), there will be plenty of seats as you will be travelling the opposite direction of the commuters.

The single train ticket from Roma Termini to Nettuno is about 3.60 euros per person (price updated January 2016).

Do not buy a return ticket as you will catch the train in Aprilia or Cisterna, it all depends from the chosen itinerary/route and train tickets for regional trains can be bought on the spot without any problems.

If you are staying in Anzio or Nettuno, I will be glad to pick you up directly at your hotel.

I live in Frosinone which is located between Cassino, Rome and Anzio  and it is the best location to stay if you want to see both Cassino and Anzio Battlefields, I would be pleased to give you further information by email.

Do you guide all your tours personally?
Yes, every tour booked through WWII Anzio Tours website will be led by me personally.

What is the cost of a tour?

Please, contact me by email and I will be happy to give you more information and a personalized quote. The price may vary according to many factors, number of people, type of vehicle and itinerary.

What Tour Itineraries are available?

I customize all my tours to the needs of my clients, but also have a selection of optimsed itineraries that I have been running very successfully for several years. Please, enquire by email for further information.

When do your Tours start and end?

I usually run from 9.30am to 4.30pm – about 7 hours per day.  The train from Rome arrives at Nettuno at 9.34 am so  I will be waiting for you at the train station and we can start the tour soon after your arrival. If you are staying in Anzio or surroundings, I will be ready to start whatever time suits you.

What vehicle do you use?

I use a very comfortable Mercedes 9 seater, it has wifi, a/c throughout and good visibility. Our innovative and unique tours will enrich your experience by utilizing on-board audio-visual displays. History will come alive as you view our multimedia presentations while we are en route to the various sites.

I have not received a reply to my e-mail?

I am the only person answering e-mails and managing the business. I always try to reply to e-mails received within 3-4 hours, and usually much sooner. BUT sometimes if I am very busy unfortunately this is not possible, especially from May to October when I am on the road for tours. However, if within 2 days you have NOT received a reply, then there has been some kind of e-mail failure. Every now and then I reply to an e-mail and my message is returned undelivered. Sometimes this is due to your server rejecting my reply because it comes from an overseas location. If you don't get a reply try e-mailing from a different account - Gmail and web-based providers often fair better than other types of provider.

What should I wear?
Comfortable shoes  and layered clothing including a waterproof jacket. I will supply umbrellas if needed.
